LCC DIGINIUS Competition Met a Rousing Success
In celebration of the 63 YEARS of indisputable and artistic LEADERSHIP, COMPETENCE AND COMMITMENT, LIPA CITY COLLEGES tread the beaten path to pioneer the “DIGINIUS (Digital Genius) COMPETITION: THE FIRST CARLOS R. MOJARES DIGITAL ACADEMIC AND SKILLS SHOWDOWN 2010”. With the aid of modern technology, the competition is truly a perfect event where students can showcase their prowess and talents. It is also an excellent way for them to imbibe sportsmanship. The event was organized by the Marketing Communications and Career Placement Office in cooperation with the LCC High School Department, and with the support of the whole LCC Community.
Students from various elementary schools in Batangas, both public and private occupied the LCC Gymnasium to vie for the throne of being the “FIRST DIGITAL CHAMPION” which was held on November 19, 2010. Contest categories include Digital Quiz Bee, Spelling Bee and Street Dance Competition. The participating schools are Talinong Bulilit Bahay Iskwela Inc., San Sebastian Elementary School, La Purisima Concepcion Academy, Ages and Stages Learning Center, Oakdale Benedictine School, De La Salle Lipa – Integrated School, Inosluban Elementary School, Teodoro M. Kalaw Memorial Elementary School, Pinagkawitan Elementary School, Padre Valerio Malabanan Memorial Elementary School, San Carlos Elementary School, and Sen. Maria Kalaw Memorial Elementary School.
The contest proper started with a Spelling Bee wherein the contenders were asked to write their answers in the acetate film and then their answers were flashed using an overhead projector to clearly see who spelled the word correctly. After an hour of an intense battle, students from Ages and Stages Learning Center, Lipa Adventist Academy and Oakdale Benedictine School dominated the elimination round. Representatives from Pinagkawitan Elementary School and La Purisima Concepcion Academy also made it to the final round of the contest. After going through elimination round, Angela Mere’ D. Balcruz, student from Ages and Stages Learning Center proved to be the smartest among them all, bagging the 1st place in Spelling Bee, followed by Diego Rafael M. Kaalim of Lipa Adventist Elementary School and Mika S. Shiramizu of Oakdale Benedictine School who snatched the 2nd and 3rd place, respectively.

Meanwhile, a Digital Quiz Bee was done right after the Spelling Bee. The quiz bee tested the wits of the Batangas’ brightest students on the following subjects: Mathematics, Science and General Information. A student from Lipa Adventist Elementary School, in the name of Diego Rafael M. Kaalim emerged victorious as he bagged the 1st place. Mark Allen Rocafort of De La Salle Lipa settled for 2nd place while Patrick James Rufino from Padre Valerio Malabanan Memorial Elementary School placed third.

A Street Dance Competition was also showcased during the event. Three schools presented their remarkable dance with their non-stop energetic moves which impressed the three judges namely, Mr. Raul Luancing, Ms. Glenda Austria and Ms. Marie Olan, all LCC employees. The said competition regaled the packed crowd as each dance troupe invades the dance floor.
In the face of tough competition against their private school counterparts, dancers of Inosluban Elementary School kept a positive attitude until they grabbed the 1st place. Meanwhile, students from Ages and Stages Learning Center emerged as the 2nd placer and the 3rd place was awarded to the dance troupe of Oakdale Benedictine School.
