Faculty Development Seminar and General Assembly 2010
As the School Year 2010-2011 begins, it is another journey for Lipa City Colleges in making its own roadmap towards a brilliant year. With a steadfast commitment to provide high quality education through the aid of competent and competitive employees, a Faculty Development Seminar and General Assembly was held on June 11, 2010 at the Audio Visual Room-Main Building of Lipa City Colleges. This aims to prepare all faculty and staff for the new school year and to provide them valuable insights about different matters which could guide them on honing the students and to enhance education efficiency. The said event was participated by both teaching and non-teaching employees as well as the members of the administration.
Two high caliber guest speakers were invited to take part on the activity. The first part of the seminar was led by Atty. Ramel Muria who shared his knowledge and expertise concerning the “Relationship of School with the Teachers” and “Teacher-Student Relationship: Implications and Liabilities”.
“Teachers are considered mere agent of the school and will be personally liable only in case”, Atty. Muria expounded. He also further stated that the framework of the relationship between the school and the teacher is the academic freedom which is the freedom of all higher education institutions.
The second part of the event was the General Assembly of all LCC employees which was spearheaded by Mr. Teofilo A. Magana Jr., Director for Student Affairs who presented the different activities for this School Year. Afterwards, Dr. Alex Silang, Lipa City Health Officer gave a discussion about “Current Health Issues: Dengue and AH1N1 virus”. He encouraged the participants to maintain the cleanliness of the environment to avoid the spread of germs and viruses which could cause diseases.
Also part of the assembly was the presentation of new employees which was introduced by Ms. Jenny H. Reyes, Human Resource Development Officer. A total of 19 new employees for teaching and non-teaching including the competent members of the academic council who have been moved upward in their position were warmly welcomed and congratulated by the LCC family.
Meanwhile, Dr. Joe Vincent Abiera, Vice-President for Administration and Corporate Affairs gave a short message which highlighted that the institution will be undergoing multifarious changes including the improvement of facilities and providing continuous trainings and seminars to all faculty and staff.
The Faculty Development Seminar and General Assembly was ended with an inspiring message from Dr. Diosdada C. Boiser, Vice-President for Academic Affairs. She challenged both the old and new employees to work hand-in-hand in helping Lipa City Colleges to move towards distinctive leadership, competence and commitment.
